Our Team
I’m Mary Crutchfield, the founder of Leva Psychiatry. I am 100 percent focused on guiding you towards liberation from trauma, shedding limiting beliefs, and moving into your own power. Underneath many mental illnesses are repressed emotions, old core wounds, and disconnection from the body. I am a clinical hypnotherapist, sound practitioner, a GoWithin Hypno-Breathwork practitioner, as well as a Master’s prepared Psychiatric and Family Nurse Practitioner. I know we can heal trauma, rewire our brain, find connection to our home (our bodies) and to others. My own healing taught me the power of working with the conscious and subconscious mind as well as in community. I’m not your average psychiatric provider and when we both agree the relationship is a match where you want me to be the guide- that means we are in this together- co-regulating and doing the emotional work too.
Settling in Virginia Beach
My introduction to the complexity of the human experience arose out of my exposure to different cultures as a child of two missionaries who traveled and relocated multiple times in other continents. Finally, I landed as a young adult here in Virginia Beach, VA. The many formative years I spent abroad continued to inspire careful reflection and lead me to develop my understanding of mental health in my own practice.
My Philosophy of Practice
I am here as a guide for you to find your way back to yourself in your body and your mind. I work with clients using a variety of methods I've trained in and experienced myself so you can access parts of you that you may not accurately understand or know how to get “unstuck”. My goal is to show you how to rewire your brain by creating safety for feeling and healing. I believe in individual work, group work, conscious work, subconscious work. Traditional psychiatry and alternative forms of healing all have a place and time in our journey back to our empowered selves.
My Philosophy
I believe mental health should be made a top priority and it’s important to work collaboratively with the individual to customize treatment modalities. I am committed to staying up to date with the latest treatments and enjoy the science of psychiatry and psychopharmacology.
I am a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner AND a Family Nurse Practitioner. This means I have a medical background in family practice, can treat all ages and am very comprehensive in addition to my psychiatric training and experience. I am passionate about my mission to provide client-centered mental health care that is holistic, empathetic, and caring.
I treat children, adolescents and adults specifically with anxiety, panic, depression, mood and personality disorders, ADHD, insomnia, anger, behavioral issues, grief, trauma, and eating disorders. I form a collaborative environment with therapists and other providers where we work as a team to address your needs.
My Philosophy
My philosophy of practice centers on a caring and collaborative relationship where we work as a team to address issues that are preventing you from living life fully. My goal is to create a trusting, supportive and compassionate environment that supports positive change and growth. I am dedicated to providing patient-centered mental health care by using the best evidence-based practices. I aim to help educate clients and the community on mental illness and to decrease the stigma of mental illness treatment.
I’m Natalie, a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with eight years of experience as an acute care nurse. I’m also a proud dog mom, Mexican immigrant, first-generation college graduate, and U.S. military spouse!
My practice focuses on supporting immigrants, healthcare providers, and military spouses who seek to truly know and love themselves. I specialize in navigating cultural identity, emotionally regulating during transitions, and processing generational trauma.
I take an integrative approach that focuses on the mind, body, and spirit connection while considering the benefits of supplements, medication, and psychotherapy. My goal is to create a space where individuals feel safe and supported in embracing their emotions, so they can live with grace, authenticity, and balance. I believe that everyone who has ventured far from home, faced deployment, expanded their cultural worldview, or experienced distress deserves to connect deeply with someone who understands their unique journey. Together, we’ll address mental health through the lens of the whole person, honoring the rich and diverse experiences that shape who we are.
